Faut-il encore présenter James Harman ? Après quarante ans de carrière, il reste plus que jamais l’un des membres les plus essentiels et les plus actifs de la communauté blues. Il est unanimement reconnu comme un extraordinaire chanteur doublé d’un harmoniciste parmi les plus doués. Il est en outre un auteur-compositeur prolifique et un raconteur d’histoires gorgées d’humour et non dénuées de sens moral et philosophique. James Harman captive littéralement son public et tous ceux qui l’ont vu restent profondément marqués par son incroyable charisme. A l’occasion de ce concert, James Harman retrouvera son ami et extraordinaire pianiste Gene Taylor avec lequel il créa dans les années 1970 le tout premier James Harman Band.

Zanger/harmonicaspeler James Harman was amper zestien jaar toen hij al een professioneel blues performer was. Hij kreeg op zijn vierde al pianolessen, maar zijn interesse richtte zich eigenlijk meer op de mondharmonica. James luisterde al vroeg naar blues op de ‘zwarte’ radiostations. Het begin van zijn professionele carriere dateert al van 1962. Sindsdien heeft hij al heel wat van de wereld gezien. In zijn meer dan 40-jarige carriere heeft hij bewezen een echte original te zijn. Gene Taylor, die deel uitmaakte van de allereerste James Harman Band, dankt zijn bekendheid voornamelijk aan zijn werk met o.a. The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Blasters en Charlie Musselwhite. Zijn pianospel maakt hem een graag geziene gast in de bluesscene.

James Harman is a senior member of the first wave of white American musicians who entered the blues during the 1960s, starting when he was only sixteen. After forty years, James Harman is still a vital and contributing member of the blues community. Today he is recognized as one of the very finest blues harpists in the world, one of today's most brilliant lyricists, a prolific songwriter, a moralist and a philosopher. And if you have ever seen him perform live you know he still rocks the house with the best musicians sometimes half his age. James Harman will be joined by his good friend and piano-man extraordinaire Gene Taylor (from the Fabulous Thunderbirds and the Blasters) with whom he founded the first James Harman Band in the mid-seventies.
