Basé à New York, Ray Schinnery est devenu musicien professionnel en 1954. Influencé par les guitaristes de jazz et le rhythm'n'blues classique, il enregistre son premier album à 15 ans pour RCA sous le pseudonyme de Ray Smith. Il s'est produit avec Jimmy Witherspoon, The Holmes Brothers, James Brown, Percy Sledge et Big Mama Thornton . Selon les critiques, son chant vous remue l'âme, son jeu de guitare est stupéfiant et il est en outre un songwriter phénoménal. Raised in New York City Ray Schinnery is dedicated to keeping Blues alive. He has been described as "a soul stirring singer, earth-shattering Guitarist and a phenomenal songwriter." As the story goes, Schinnery’s uncle made him a guitar and put it in his hands, and "that was that". Influenced by jazz guitarists and classic rhythm & blues in the early 1950s Schinnery has developed a sound uniquely his own.
